This volunteer experience takes place within a breathtaking nature reserve in South Africa. The camp is nestled in the heart of the reserve, where you’ll engage with local children, educating them about wildlife and the environment, while also caring for animals in need.
Your tasks will involve teaching children and caring for animals. All lessons are interactive, with educational activities like playing games, swimming, and dancing to their favorite songs. For the animals, you’ll learn about different species and help keep them well-cared for and thriving by cleaning, feeding, and maintaining their environment.
Schedule Time: Monday to Friday – from 9am to 4:30pm.
Each rondavel is equipped with en-suite bathroom (except one chalet) allowing you to fully immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the reserve while contributing to meaningful projects.
Accommodation is provided on-site, typically shared with 4 to 5 beds each. As this is a volunteer position, housing and meals are included at no extra cost.
Assistance throughout your experience:
– Volunteer position guaranted before departure (Registation fee is refunded if we do not find you a suitable position).
– Communication with the employer, if you have any issues with accommodation.
As previously stated, volunteer positions in South Africa do not come with a salary, but your accommodation and meals will be provided at no cost, resulting in very minimal to no expenses during your stay.
Plan for the following expenses:
– Round-trip transportation costs.
– Some pocket money for you to spend at your convenience and for excursions during your days off.
Each day follows a program schedule set by the local team. As a volunteer, you’ll help with the daily maintenance of the organisation — that might include cleaning, organising spaces, feeding animals, or assisting with any tasks needed.
You’ll also enjoy shared meals like breakfast and lunch with other volunteers, creating a nice chance to connect, share stories, and enjoy the experience together.
No experience needed. You’ll get guidance from local coordinators and a detailed teaching book to support you.
Yes. Volunteers have free time to relax or explore the area. Weekends (usually Saturday and Sunday) are often free, but this can depend on the organisation’s schedule. It’s a great chance to visit nearby towns, go on excursions, or just unwind with other volunteers.
The program fee is paid at registration. To start your placement, just complete the online booking at roastjobs.com, this confirms your spot and lets us officially begin the process on our side.
The fee is 100% refundable if we can’t secure a placement by your preferred departure date.
Great question. The fee covers all the support Roast Jobs provides, like helping you find accommodation, prepare your documents, plan your travel, and get ongoing support while you’re abroad.
Also, part of the fee goes directly to the local organisation, helping them continue their amazing work, since they’re non-governmental and rely on outside support.
You need either a valid passport, travel insurance and And a visa depending on their profile (usually tourist visa).
