Clémentine, a culinary student from a hospitality school in Cholet, recently completed her international internship at a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Toledo, Spain.
During her placement, she had the opportunity to work in a world-class kitchen while discovering Spanish culture and building confidence in a new country.
Here’s what Clémentine shared with us (translated from French):
“My Erasmus experience in Spain will without a doubt remain one of the best experiences of my life. I had always dreamed of discovering Spain, and I was lucky enough to complete my internship in a two-Michelin-starred restaurant—an opportunity I never imagined I would have. Beyond the professional experience, this adventure helped me overcome the language barrier, meet amazing people, grow as a person, and create memories and friendships that I will always carry with me.”
During her internship, Clémentine mainly worked in the kitchen, preparing and plating starters and amuse-bouches. She also helped plate main courses, desserts and mignardises, giving her valuable experience in the high standards and attention to detail required in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Although she felt a little uncomfortable with the Spanish language at first, her team supported her every step of the way. From the very beginning, her colleagues made her feel welcome and included, making the whole experience even more special.
When asked what advice she would give to future students, her answer was simple:
“Live every moment to the fullest.”
