Candidate’s Review: A group of six students from a hospitality college in France recently completed their internships at a prestigious hotel in Lloret de Mar, Spain. Among them, one Commis Chef shared their experience with us:
“The adaptation went very well. I learned to speak the local language and understand local expressions. What impressed me the most was people’s kindness and their teamwork spirit.
I’d like to thank the Roast Jobs team and my school for this great experience. Everything went perfectly; I learned a lot and will always keep wonderful memories of this internship.”
During the internship, the student participated in the preparation of starters, main courses, and desserts, assisted with plating and service, and ensured proper cleaning and hygiene at their workstation. They also learned new cooking techniques and discovered different approaches to gastronomy, gaining valuable insight into the hospitality world.
We asked what advice they would give to a student going next year, and they shared:
“Stay open-minded, curious, and motivated; make the most of the experience, and don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek help from the beginning.”
